This week mining billionaire Gina Rinehart became the largest shareholder in Fairfax, having already bought a stake in Channel Ten. But this new video reveals this move is bigger than one woman's ambition -- it's part of a coordinated and very deliberate strategy, with climate skeptic 'Lord' Monkton seen here advising a room full of mining executives on how the industry must gain control of Australia's media.

You are foul-mouthed and you have just proved every point I have just made.

We are not "Watermelons" - we are concerned citizens and some of us actually DO understand the science and just how easy it is to distort it. The more complex something is and does not have a flat 2D explanation - can be distorted.

The crazy thing is, you see this video and don't get it. It is ***YOU*** who is the target.

    And THEY GOT YOU !

Another victim of Lord Moncton and his ilk - THAT'S ***YOU*** !!

  • Fox News= libertarian? Might wanna reassess your paradigms there, mate..

  • The only problem is that real news media is never meant to have an agenda to it, the point of it being there is critically investigating what is happening, and if there is a news outlet with a bias, then they won't be doing their job properly.

And having a more left leaning news outlet would just be adding to the problem of biased and agenda pushing news.

Also, most people dont weigh up bias from their sources, that really should be the job of the media

  • really good that GetUp posted this.

Quite glad we have them around, can really see why they get attacked by the right wing media and politicians, as the right wing seem to hate it when people do things like thinking and questioning.

  • Monckton in private - funny how he shows no interest in climate science but a great interest in pushing for a political propaganda machine.

  • 'You are not, nor have ever been, a Member of the House of Lords.'

    - UK House of Lords to 'Lord' Monkton

  • At least the $ for this new network wouldn't be stolen from people via the tax system

  • Oooooh, having you voice heard, what an evil nefarious plan by glutinous capitalists! We must curtail free speech if we want to bring down industrial civilization!

  • You know what I "like" about this video? The fact that somebody manage to capture the bastard saying all this on video. Well done!

  • It was Monkton that used the word "libertarian" - and he was referring to the new network he was proposing, not directly to Fox News. When I repeated the word, I thought that by adding the word "right" to it I was expressing my skepticism of his description clearly! :-)
