We couldn't hold back anymore. We were too excited about what we've got in the works that we flew down to the Musikmesse Convention in Frankfurt, invited a room full of our friends in the press and development community, and lifted the curtain on some groundbreaking new technology we're working on.
In this presentation we'll introduce you to Figure, our new mobile adaptation of actual Reason devices running on your phone and Rack Extensions, our new technology which will allow third party developers to create fully functional Reason rack devices complete with CV, cable routing, combinator patch creation, and everything else that makes Reason so versatile and creative.

Because Re are easier to produce from 3rd party developers, does that mean they will be much less expensive than your average softsynth?

Pricing is up to the 3rd party developers themselves. Companies like U-He, which will be releasing their Ubik series of plugins have announced already that the benefits of the Rack Extension development and shop platform means they will be able to unbundle their Ubik series and sell each device individually for a fraction of the price that the whole bundle normally sells for in its VST format. But each company will make their own pricing decisions.

I applaud propellerhead for sticking to there guns and now they have essentially created custom built vst's that work seamlessly alongside the existing gear. There are plenty of software developers that are already interested and if the rack extension inventory grows well this could be the update that makes everyone take reason seriously! Yay Reason!

So dead public in hall as for such great news. But as for me, I'd like Reson stay more stand alone. That is what made Reason so special.

Its a shame that Propellerhead are now charging their costumers twice for their products. I remember every update to Reason was either free, or came at a small cost and you got all the new tools included. I think in the future, Propellerheads should give their rack extensions out for free or include new ones into updates for Reason peridoically. Just a thought :D. Great work though and the ones I have used sound amazing!
