(MARQUETTE) - The Central Upper Peninsula and NMU Archives hosted its first ever Evening at the Archives on November 17th, the first in what it hopes to be a biannual event.

These "evenings" will be held every semester, and will take place in the LRC on Northern's campus.

This first event was dedicated to genealogy, and the archives were full of participants.

After cookies and drinks, participants listened to presentations by Project Archivist Rachel Bussert and Marcus Robyns.

The presentations focused on genealogical research, but they also included information about resources available through the archives.

Ali Eberts, the Senior Research Assistant at the Archives, said that the event could help community members start their own projects.

"We're just trying to offer direction and clarification on genealogical research," Eberts said.

The Archives website will contain information regarding future events.
