Quite true. Of course many things are taken out of films in editing for many reasons.

But at that time many theaters particularly those in the south refused to show films that had black people in them unless they were portrayed as bufoons, servants, or slaves, usually all three. So studios regularly cut scenes like this one with Lena Horne or the Nicholas Bros. or any that showed black people with dignity and respect.

Seems an odd thing to do but it is a fact.
