The GOP (the wealthy corporatists) & their agents in government will not support any legislation which moves a single penny from the corporatist's pile into the people's pile because their mission is to move ALL the pennies from the people's pile into the corporatist's pile so corporations can over throw the government, seize power and enslave the people. Pretty dramatic, but true. The elite want to continue living as kings & queens. If the people get their due, kings & queens will fall.

whoo689...did you actually read it? "The estimated difference in pay between female managers working full time and male managers working full time narrowed slightly between 2000 and 2007 ... we estimated that female managers earned 81 cents for every dollar earned by male managers in 2007, compared to 79 cents in 2000." All things considered, there remains a notable disparity. Still a ways to go...

@whoo689Really? What "relevant studies" are you referring to?

And with the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, don't we already have FIVE fair pay laws on the federal books?? If those five laws "aren't enough", there are either 2 possibilities: federal bureaucrats aren't doing enough to combat pay discrimination, OR there was not much, if any, pay discrimination to begin with, at least for the past few decades.

The first fair pay law was put in place by JFK, over 40 years ago, so I gotta believe federal bureaucrats have been pretty stringent since then.

The folks on the left who think "We gotta fight for fair pay" wanna feel like they're doing the right thing so badly that it prevents them from critically thinking about this issue. If you're gonna claim there's WIDESPREAD pay discrimination against female employees, you better back it up with actual evidence. Simply saying "Women make less than men" doesn't cut it.

But alas, in the world of politics, this kind of bullshit flies all the time. Evidence just isn't respected like it should be

It's amazing how many idiots on the Left can be swayed by this bullshit all because it sounds nice, and they never think further than "Oh, my god! Women make less than men. That must mean they're discriminated against." Who could be against fair pay, after all

Except that there IS no "fair pay" issue. Until I see evidence of widespread active, conscious pay discrimination in individual workplaces by male employers against female ones, I'm not buyin it. Smells like bullshit til then.

You guys should know better! Correlation is NOT causation. There probably will NEVER be 100% pay equity between the sexes. And why is that such a bad idea? It doesn't mean all women are getting paid less in their workforces simply because they're women. The factors in play are much more complex. Only a moron would say "Well, women make 70% of men, so that means they're discriminated against."

That's PC liberal assumption bullshit. Faux "social justice". Ugh

All the relevant studies ALSO show that you're FULL OF SHIT, Congresswoman. The truth is, the pay disparity has LITTLE TO DO WITH any "pay discrimination" on the part of male employers! It has to do with lifestyle choices, education, etc on the part of women. Women end up making less than men on average. But that by no means implies that ALL or even a good portion of women don't make enough money or the same as their male colleagues at their businesses.
