Youtube have proved again. The greatest fucking mass of ignorant idiots seem to use this site to make their opinion count.
If hyenas wouldn't be the way they are, many dead bodies would remain unattended in the wild, which could result in pestilence and many other diseases which would eventually spread between humans as well. These wonderful guys are meant to clean up the mess, which they do the best, just like vultures, and several microbes, fish, etc. Learn, think and read before you speak.

lions do not always kill their prey before eating it. Plenty of examples of it here on youtube. If prey does not resist—for example, there is a horrific video of lions slowly eating a baby elephant with broken legs where the elephant is alive for several hours while they eat slowly—the killing urge is not activated. So it seems lions kill their prey to avoid injury to themselves.
Hyenas at least eat their victims very quickly. And they are much more caring to their offspring than lions.

Did you know they can outwit chimpanzees in terms of teamwork? Beautiful animals.
Also, for the record folks, hyenas are not dogs, or cats for that matter; they're closer to the mongoose than either cats or dogs, but are in a family all their own. Truly an underrated animal.
And another fun fact, Lions scavenge more food than hyenas and usually from hyenas. Lion King gave them a bad rap, but they seem to be much more noble than lions.

I guess these people would have to live in dead carcasses up to their knees before they recognize the true value of scavengers that can clean up the mess. Even if hyenas don't scavenge all that often, they clean up the entirety of what they kill lol
