Shot-by-shot comparison of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" vs. scenes from 30 different adventure films made between 1919-1973. My love letter to Indiana Jones and the films which served as inspiration.

Thanks a lot, Leighton. I never counted how many hours but it was done in my spare time over a span of 2 years (after 20 years of collecting enough movies to make it). Glad you liked it!

    Top-flight work, Stoo! Thank you!

Don't let these disillusioned dopes weigh you down. Lucas and Speilberg *both* have repeatedly (and somewhat begrudgingly) credited the manifold source material that you so painstakingly assembled.

There's *plenty* more old shot-for-shot material you could assemble side-by-side if you have the time. I'm not quite sure why people seem to think that pointing out the obvious similarities is some sort of heresy.

It doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the movie.

Your comments are much appreciated, FAwesome. Like you, I don't understand the negative viewpoint of some people. Thankfully, they are the minority!

Currently, I'm putting together a side-by-side of the truck chase from "Raiders" and, after that, probably the boat chase in "Crusade" (because that sequence is pretty easy to do with the serials/films I already have).

If you watch that Making of Raiders video from the box set (it's also on youtube), Spielberg is credited by Frank Marshall for coming up with the opening shot of the Paramount mountain.

The large boulder in the opening sequence? Spielberg - "That was my idea":

I could go on, but paying homage to something is one thing. Stealing someone else's idea and claiming credit for it is something else.
