Bat Conservation International (www.batcon.org) created this video to illustrate the ways in which the health of our planet depends upon the environmental services provided by bats. The welfare of global bat populations depends on conservation actions that everyone can take on a daily basis. I agree 100 percent with zephyrbat here. The east coast of the US and 4 Canadian Providences have been hit and White Nose Syndrome has breached the continental divide and is continuing it's deadly march westward. Over 8 million bats dead across NINE species of hibernating bats. Until WNS is arrested caves and other hibernacula should be closed off as well. Cavers can get over it! Please support all efforts to find a solution to White Nose Syndrome and also for federal bat protection laws.

Ever since Dr. Merlin D. Tuttle raised the alarm about bats and their situation worldwide, people in service uniforms in the United States have been joining together to raise awareness, advocate, and preform other services to help our winged friends of the sky. Some of us even rehabilitate and release injured and orphaned bats! Please continue to do what you do. You are so right. We need bats and they need us. Brilliant! Please everyone - think globally and act locally. Support BCI and your local bat conservation organisation. Here in Australia we still have two governments which permit farmers to shoot bats for crop protection - including two THREATENED SPECIES. BCI is helping us to fight this stupidity.
