Paradise or Oblivion

http://www.thevenusproject.com

This video presentation advocates a new socio-economic system, which is updated to present-day knowledge, featuring the life-long work of Social Engineer, Futurist, Inventor and Industrial Designer Jacque Fresco, which he calls a Resource-Based Economy. This documentary details the root causes of the systemic value disorders and detrimental symptoms caused by our current established system. The film details the need to outgrow the dated and inefficient methods of politics, law, business, or any other "establishment" notions of human affairs, and use the methods of science, combined with high technology, to provide for the needs of all the world's people. It is not based on the opinions of the political and financial elite or on illusionary so-called democracies, but on maintaining a dynamic equilibrium with the planet that could ultimately provide abundance for all people.

Paradise or Oblivion, by The Venus Project, introduces the viewer to a more appropriate value system that would be required to enable this caring and holistic approach to benefit human civilization. This alternative surpasses the need for a monetary-based, controlled, and scarcity-oriented environment, which we find ourselves in today.

This is NOT the "major motion picture" that The Venus Project is working towards but rather is a short documentary to introduce the aims and proposals to new people.

This is a free online documentary created by The Venus Project. Original music by Carly Paradis (‪http://www.carlyparadis.com/‬) from her album "They Have Been Watching".

For me the focus is not so much on science and technology - b/c this sounds like going toward a rather technocratic "Brave New World"-like system. I feel its more about the human aspects, our attitude and the way we look at each other and treat each other with sympathy and yes: Love. Love for me is the central notion and the basis for a global community. I dream of a more humane society, whether this new society is a more engineered one.or not is secondary imo.

if you really want a better world you HAVE to engineer and plan it with a social strategy that's "humanistic" for lack of better terms. info provided by TVP tries hard to get across the dire imperative of using science and tech for all people.

Nice words, morality, and platitudes have utterly failed for centuries to produce anything humane. How do you produce that? Through an environment that makes people as such

you make it sound like a moneyless society was only possible through the ways of modern science and technology. But imo it doesnt depend on the tech level. Mankind couldve made it happen centuries ago as it was always done in smaller communities. But they just lacked the attitude for a global community... and indeed religious institutions played a sad part in it. But there is an ignorance in modern science toward the human being aswell. They lack spiritual depth to understand our heartly desires

But your attitudes and heartly desires are put there in your conditioning/upbringing. a humane society is only possible with science. all that makes your life bearable is technology, if that doesn't make sense you could try throwing out your heater&A/C, washers, car, live in the woods or cave for a week, even a day. I've seen few who tried that and liked it. Even so, with 7billion ppl there aren't enough woods for it. To us, this is the best plan for a feasible "spiritual" society.

Now you sound like the human being was merely some sort of fleshy robot, a brain automaton, that can be programmed this or that way. If that'd be the case we wouldnt have movements that rebel against established systems and quite frankly wouldnt have any system of any sorts, since the human original was just an empty machine waiting for input values that it couldnt generate from its own existence. You are human, you are claiming logic, try to project your ideas of the human being upon yourself.

lf people where generally happy and joyful and enjoyed their lives, then psychiatrists and therapists would loose their jobs! Medical companies that sell drugs to 'cure' depression would loose their business!

Can't you see? The whole system is fucking ridiculous! A happy and fulfilled public would result in an economic downfall, the loss of jobs and the decline in GDP!

It's called 'capitalism' for a reason. We capitalize on human misery!

So fuck the system, resource based economy FTW :D

At the right hand bottom corner of the video player you have buttons that when you move your mouse cursor over them say the following, listed from right to left: Full screen, expand, watch later, change quality and turn captions on. Click turn captions on button and a list of languages will pop up, select the language you need from the list of languages provided and click the captions button again to hide the list.

Thanks for the tips. Even if it doesn't guarantees it, it's probably better than raising them in a scarcity/deprived environment which can then have bigger consequences. Still I think those are special cases, I don't know if they can be overcome. But for the average person, environment plays a massive role

As for the 'twin study'... uhm... fairly simple to explain environmental influence here.

Parents don't treat twins exactly alike.

Each twin will receive different amount of attention, one might spend more time with the mother, other with the father... each will expose both kids to different things, or spin slight variation on the same theme with each - enough to result in vast differences when it comes to behavior.

Minute variations are more than enough to produce vastly different results.

As for raising a 'psychopathic child in a church cannot guarantee that he will be nice'...

Uhm, seeing how the church itself produced many psychopaths (who were prior to that 'regular people'), your analogy is a bit flawed and unpleasant.

One has to wonder first WHY is the child psychopathic. What prompted this behavior.

What about wrongly sentenced people in prison exiting the said establishment as really dangerous to society whereas they were no threat before they entered it?
