If you try to recharge a piece of acrylic that already has a figure in it, the discontinuities will cause the charge to escape almost immediately. New tracks will appear but will not show the same nice dendritic patterns.

Maybe things like this will help schools get better funding for their art departments. I could assume a particle accelerator is out of the question...but nevertheless. Art programs--fund them!
