The Porsche Boxster S has always been considered the poor man's Porsche, though the latest iteration gives its big brother, the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera (991), a run for its money on the latest episode of Car and Driver: Abroad.

Not surprising, that's what the Porsche engineering is all about: Keeping the 911 ahead.

Also drifting at 6:05. Huge amounts of drifts in this lap with no intention to correct the oversteer ... just holding the drifts.

The 981 Cayman/Boxster IS quicker in narrow bends. I drove a Cayman S 981 in a slalom compared to the 991. Overall the 991 was easier and quicker but not in narrow parts. On straights and on long corners ...

Beginning 6:13 this is SHOW DRIFTING and not fast driving. This is the timed lap against the 911? Really? Initializing the drift is a big mistake ... but he is holding it there for the show which costs a huge amount of time. Correcting the oversteer by opening the steering would have been so much quicker.

On the other hand he really is trying hard to drive clean in the 911, even can't speak for a moment really concentrating ... biased review ;)

What kind of poop stain sets a lap time while sliding the ass end all over the place?

If they really wanted to do a comparison within in the Porsche range, they should have used a Cayman S against the 911. That way they are atleast both hardtop vehicles.

I drive a 997.2 CSC and love it. While it was being detailed, Porsche gave me a PDK Boxter S loaner. The Boxter S is a GREAT car. The handling is amazing. You feel like the car is litterally rotating around your waist. It simply lacks enough power to adequately compete with the 911. But the reality is that it is a different car. It behaves in a very different way. While I still prefer the 911's tail happy handling. Both will put a big smile on your face! Porsche, there is no substitute!

Fun video but useless. Porsche isn't run by stupid people, they know the Boxster mustn't outperform the 911,

1.11 sec. is really big... Give me a break, thats probably the difference between his worst lap and his best lap with one of the cars. As if he is always perfectly driving and the only thing that could make him 1.1s slower is the car.

I love broke azz losers that say the Boxster is a poor man's Porsche or a girl's car. It outperforms and outhandles 99.9% of the cars on the road. Since when does a poor man buy an 70-80k car?
