Prophetic 1995 Student Internet PSA

This Public Service Announcement (PSA) was produced in 1995 by the 5th grade students at Ray Bjork school in Helena Montana. All the Internet possibilities mentioned in the script are today a reality. The production won a local ADDY Award in 1996 for Best PSA.

Production equipment was made available by the Myrna Loy Center. The Helena School District approved the project.

Mentoring the students in all phases of production, Cindy Gaffney proposed the project and volunteered to produce, write, direct and edit it.

At the time, it seemed that finding obscure information about cats was proof of how much detailed stuff was already on the web.  Kind of a joke that tapped into what became a feline fever on the web. Carolyn had a cat, so she brought it in like a "Show and Tell". Thanks for your interest!

Well it depends how you mean. The ARPANET is generally regarded as the beginning of the Internet and that was created in November of 1969. But it didn't start using Internet Protocol until about 1983 and that's around when it started to merge with other networks.

And the World Wide Web, which contrary to popular belief is just one part of the Internet, wasn't even thought of until 1989 and wasn't really easily usable until the Mosaic browser came out in 1993. At that point AOL etc caught note
