    $0.70 in 1970 would be $3.82 today. So that's almost 127 times what we could pay now at $0.03 per minute on a traditional landline. And like others have said, we can get a flat rate per month for VoIP or cellular. Or even free with Google Voice. How times have changed!

    And in 2010 it's less than 3 cents a minute depending on the long distance carrier you choose. And you can use a calling card that costs a penny a minute for the continental United States.

    Of course this pertains to only the landline as we haven't even included the cellphone and VOIP.
