Researchers from IBM and Linden Lab® gathered in an experimental area of the 3D virtual world, Second Life. Together they prepared to teleport outside Second Life to another virtual world, called OpenSim. It was a journey no avatar had taken before. Distributed by Tubemogul.
This is a stunningly important step in realizing "virtual reality/cyberspace". My question is, is unique user information at least optionally verifiable with Linden labs servers?
That's not what is exciting at all about this video Snowberry, Lol.
This is mainly unbelievably amazing Mickeymoose because basicly these are two COMPLETELY seperate server bases that aren't connected in any way (Therefore representing seperate 3d Virtual Worlds) ... and some fucking how they teleported from one to the other.. Absolutly unrealistic to me, I have no earthly Idea how they did this..
IBM & SL are always pushing the limit. These futurists astound me.
This so exciting! For those who may be confused, OpenSim means we can host our own virtual world on our own servers giving us more control. Instead of having to go one main server hub, in this case Linden Labs, we can choose or run our own.
For example, if I want to start my own world, I can advertise it and have people with similar interests connect their worlds to mine. Avatars who join our group could then have access or we could make it public access.

I hope I said this all correctly.
