Sadly you can't recoat them, thats part of the manufacturing process. You can however wash them and reproof them using Nikwax, Grangers or a similar product when they get dirty and their breathability is impaired. The DWR Finish will also fade away over time (thats the finish that makes water "bead" on the surface of the jacket) and again re-proofing will make that come back.

One question: aren't Coated Jackets just as durable as gortex if you recoat them every 18 months or so?
