I once read in a book about raising bilingual kids that some kids won't be aware of which language they're speaking, but it's never happened with my boys. They've always been able to distinguish between English and Japanese. The only problem I have is that their Japanese is better than mine, so sometimes they have to repeat what they say 2-3 times before I understand.
Are there any complications teaching kids in a multilingual environment? Wouldn't they maybe mix the languages together or get confused growing up?
I saw a news video about a family who had their chinese maid teach the child mandarin chinese too and it seems to work very well.
why are your kids speaking japanese when they understand your english? i'm dumbfounded by this haha.
