Get a grip guys. Scofield is an extremely well educated jazz musician with decades of experience. John Mayer is an incredible young talent, with great feel for what he's doing. There is nothing to be gained from comparing the two. Just listen and appreciate the music they give us.

There was a concert Mayer did on direct tv a while back that totally changed my opinion. On youtube you will find most of the songs from that. It was from Webster's Hall. Check it out and maye beyour opinion will change also.
