Athiests dont go on tirades about the Hobbit because people dont present it as non-fiction, unlike religion. They get worked up because some religious folk can really get annoying.

Who's to say if the Bible is true or not? If there is a God who is able to create the universe, then why couldn't He part a sea, bring animals to an ark, or work miracles? If it is a book of fictional fairy tales, why do atheists get all worked up about it? You don't see them going on tirades about "The Hobbit"
