No, Obama is not trying to get the government out of debt, he's trying to keep Americans out of debt by paying off bad mortgages and stimulating businesses. If this works, we will be out of debt sometime in the future... The majority of Americans keeping their jobs is more important than reducing federal debt in the short term.

The easiest thing to think about with government stimulus spending is that it's going to come at the expense of higher taxes, government debt, inflation, or a delicious combination of all three. This stimulus package could very well destroy our nations economy.
