I don't have to give it respect. It's a movie, not a person. I don't care what other people's reactions are to it, I'm saying that I personally think it's completely overrated and not worth the time it takes to watch it.If you like it, fine. I don't.

Okay whatever. As I said I'm just a Christian and lover of the horror so I personally love this and respect all it went through to be where it's at today. It was the 70's and people were alot more sensitive to stuff like this back then even more than now. Some went in moral outrages, some churches called it a blasphemy and it was banned for 10 years. And still it became a hit. If you don't like it fine. I'm saying at least give respect to all it went through and the fans. But let's just stop.

I didn't mean that literally. I know that. I was basically saying there are lots of people who aren't sensitive to it. And I can't really speak a lot on PG-13 horror, because I don't 'do' PG-13 horror, but the little I have seen I classify more as suspense and not truly the horror genre.Yes, there are bad and good horror films from every decade. What I'm saying is that for me, I need lots of gore or a good plot. Preferably both. And to me, "The Exorcist" brings neither. A complete disappointment.

There's alot of people sensitive to blood. The Saw series was succesful cause it had a good story. But look at all these PG-13 horrors because everyone is so . I agree gore isn't everything and story prevails. But replacing it with jump scares is pathetic. And all those films like Molly Hartley, Shutter, Haunting in Conneticut, Prom Night etc really don't have good acting or writing anyway. It's that kind of thinking that brought us Exorcist 2 which was one of the worst movies ever made.

Who's sensitive to blood and gore? Tell that to me and everyone else who loves the "Saw" movies, unrated versions of the new TCM movies. I love gore, but I don't need it. As long as the plot draws me in. I will say I agree that horror was at its peak in the 70s and 80s. I just don't feel that "The Exorcist' is an example of that. For me personally it will always be one of those films that got way more accolades and attention than it deserves. Absolutely not scary or entertaining in the least imo.

I'm aware that there were bad horrors back then too. And most of the 50's ones were bad. I'm saying nowadays we are so sensitive to the smallest amount of blood or language and the idea of scary now seems to be just relying on loud noises and stuff jumping out at you every 5 minutes. There are new horrors that I like, but we've hit the censored/remake age. Back in the 70's and 80's horror was at the top of it's game. I just thought it was interesting and accurate with the novel which I love.

The thing about this movie to those depends. Cause I believe that there is a devil and he can really do these things to you. But the whole point around this movie is do you really believe in the devil? Cause if you dont believe in the devil, this movie isnt really going to scare you, and most people found this movie very frightening back in 1973. I will admit this movie is scary, and I think its scary because of that face. That demonic face probably what scared me most about this movie.

Now this is a scary movie. Nothing like the intense blood, gore and violence. Some foul language, but it basically just cuts down to a film that can truely scare you, and bring a good story with it. This is a classic horror, something we'll never see today (and really, does every scary movie these days have to have sex in it?)
