the only problem is it can only do one function at a time, so you can't, for example, go forwards and raise the bulldozer blade at once. Also the mechanical complexity is really large, as well as the extra weight to build all of this you might as well use two NXT bricks. But it is very impressive that all this can be done with only one brick, that is true.

This point was covered( and known), though a limitation of operation, still adds function without need of many nxts. The point of the project was just to show it can be done. An operational linear switch in a Lego platform. Though now in 2011 the need for second or third NXT is mute, since the production of port splitter that now could run 100+ motors from a single NXT or sensors. An example of this would be my Bipeds have 11d0f, 1 nxt and no need for linear switching.

No, as he said in the description he only uses 2 motors to control 6 functions.

@Dudeofmanyhobbies THey used to sell them as parts at LegoEducation, back when this was done. Now only in pneumatics parts packs that cost more. If I had to get them now I would look into bricklink.

I like the pneumatics used in the claw. Much more efficient than a motor.

True: one motor moves the other motor to power all other functions; a linear-switch. So in this test was to prove it could work in a real model.
