Watch from 0:41 to 0:44
You'll see that the 11-ball is spinning backwards at first, slides for a little bit, then starts rolling normally at the end.
That means she could hit the cue (11-ball) harder so it wouldn't roll off course, but at the same time, the cue ball wouldn't move too far after contact, giving her good shape on the 2-ball.
Using a striped ball just allows you to see the spin easier.

in snooker they call it a drag shot.you can also control the cue ball with a stun shot in this case
