I did a video a few months ago ( http://urltea.me/thx ) where I sent out a thank you to all those who sent me the wonderful DM's to join their mafia or to take a quiz, etc; This video is more in response to those same type of DM's which are in fact really spam but malicious ones at that.

Examples of what I am talking about:

1. hah, you look funny in this video - [virus link]
2. Hah. this you? - [virus link]
3. My friend showed me you on here: - [virus link]
4. Rofl this you? - [virus link]
5. you are funny. ur high school pic.. - [virus link]
6. get, get your iq score here... - [virus link]
7. lol check out this iq thingy. i just took it. - [virus link]

And so on...

So you get the picture now right? Basically you might have received the same DM from someone you follow then clicked on it. Now you are infected! Then it goes out to all your followers without your knowledge and if they click then they are infected. This goes on and on.

What can you do?

1. Never use you Twitter username or password on a site other than http://twitter.com

2. Change your password immediately if you suspect you have been hacked

3. Only trust third party sites that are reputable and have a positive long history

4. Always be aware and safeguard your Twitter account and info

Ways to check if you been hacked:

- Login to Twitter.com and check your "Sent" box under the Direct Messages link

- Also check your "Connections" under "Settings" to verify who has access to your account
