Oh, and one more comment. In summer months and sometimes at different times, Big Cypress is closed to ORV's. So call first!

Great Question! There are different rules for the Everglades National Park and Big Cypress, though both are administered by the National Park Service. Big Cypress is a National Preserve while Everglades is a National Park. A spokesman for NPS says that National Parks have a higher level of protection.
There are no off road vehicles or hunting allowed in the national parks - the national preserve designation at Big Cypress provides different opportunities for access including Off Road Vehicles and hunting. The ORV use in big Cypress is currently going through a review in their management plan (information on parkplanning.nps.gov). Info on rules is at nps.gov/bicy/planyourvisit/orv |

what does the permit for an atv do?i have a bombardier ds650 and a quadzilla like 9 blocks away from chrome avenue and the cops stop me does the permit allow you to ride on the street or drive inside the everglades national park and does it let you ride in big cypress nation park?
