The Via Luminosa art trail was a series of outdoor (mainly video) art works around the city of York, telling the story of Easter, every night for two weeks in April 2009. This edited trailer primarily shows the context of each artwork, rather than focussing on the art itself. The full art video loops themselves will be made available separately at some point in the future.

Transcendence for Candlemas visionsyork - 2,718 views - 1 year ago
An ancient-future mass, in York Minster Crypt and Nave. The feast of the presentation of Jesus in the temple is the turning point from commemorating Christ's birth, to looking towards Lent, the Passion, and the Cross.

This multimedia communion service combines ancient chant and ritual, with contemporary image and video. There is lots of movement around the building, from the warm and intimate low-vaulted crypt, to the vast empty space of the cathedral nave.

The full event has been edited down to under four minutes, to give you a flavour of what we do. Future Transcendence events happen on the first Sunday of every month, at 7.30pm.

York Minster - the Advent Procession 2007. Starting in complete darkness, a single candle is lit, and passed to the choir. They move around the space, singing antiphons, as gradually the light spreads to every person in the building.

I like the concept but I could never worship like this. I mean I would love the music you use were it just a concert or chirstian gathering. But I could never go to a mass like that, and there are several things I dont agree with especialy the chance that passing out communion where there is a chance that it could fall on the floor or be profained by someone that might desecrate the host because they would be an anti christian that is trying to go under the guise as a christian.

But, Hey I love the trance and the concept of using the archaic mystical practices of christianity, and putting it into use in the new millenium.
DO you ever do this in the states I wonder and do you sell the audio tracks alone on cd or recording.

and do you have a rotation of differant readings each week that you do this? as that is what most of the old churches do each time they have services.
