This is the channel for the Arkansas-based Coveys! Come on in and click to catch up on us. Watch us goof around and see the boys growing like proverbial weeds! This has also become the channel for Linux tutorials - mostly for video production, but I do try and field what requests I can. I do all my editing and production in Linux, so if you're interested in seeing some end results, feel free to enjoy the videos of my kids too. What can I say... proud dad who loves to brag!
About Me:

This is our family! I'm Alf - computer geek and musician. Mel is artistic and probably more crafty than Martha Stewart. Ian is our adorable super-genius; a fun little boy with high functioning autism. Aidan is our sweet little tank; a metahuman with super-strength, the ability to cling to just about any surface, and the sense of humor of a 30 year old. We have two dogs you'll see a lot of - Speck (our Aussie) and George (our Lahsa).

I was a freelance producer/engineer in Dallas for 10 years and it's something I just can't put down. I got started doing stuff I used to do in studios on PC, but it was prohibitively expensive to do what I wanted! Thanks to LINUX and Open Source, I can do just about anything I want, have the capability to do stuff way more advanced if I can only find time to learn the software, and don't have to worry about the several thousand dollars I'd have to have invested in "regular" software to get what I have now for free! The subject of my creativity, at least for now, is my family. With these two boys, I really need a bionic eye hooked up to a DV camera, but I catch what I can. They keep us entertained for sure.

Good work. You mentioned that you are working on a video that shows how to do slow and fast motion on Cinelerra. Will you be finished soon? I have a Casio EX-F1 camera that I use to shoot volleyball games in 300fps. Now I want to speed up part of the video (to real-time) and leave the other parts in slow motion. I scoured the web and have been unable to find anything about selective playback speed changes. High school volleyball season is almost here so any help would be appreciated!

Hi,
Great work on the cinelerra tutorials. I've been trying to figure cinelerra out for a few days, and I was getting now where before I saw your tutorials. You've done a really great job and make it really easy to understand. Now I can open cinelerra without a feeling of utter confusion lol.
