The Charles F. Adams class of guided
missile destroyers was a group of
twenty-nine ships built between 1958
and 1967.

Twenty-three of these ships were built
for the United States Navy, three for the
Royal Australian Navy, and three for the
West German Bundesmarine.

The ships were based on the existing Forrest Sherman class, but were the first destroyers designed to serve as missile destroyers.

The Adams Class Veterans Association, Inc.
(ACVA, Inc.) is working to establish an ADAMS
Ship Museum in Jacksonville, Florida (USA).

	Engus1 (1 year ago) Thanks for the great videos! I served aboard the Adams DDG-2 in the late `60s as a Radarman. Also worked on the ECM gear back in the 'Dinosaur days' of Electronic Counter Measures. The Adams Class was, by far, the best looking Destroyers ever designed. Don't know if you are aware of it or not, but the Adams still sits in the Philadelphia, PA shipyards on Historic hold by the Naval Department, awaiting a City to accept her as a donation for a floating museum. She's rusting away though, and I'm afraid her days are nearing an end if a City doesn't step up soon. That would be a great loss. Thanks again ! Engus.

	USNVET73 (1 year ago) Uss richard byrd :I rembmbered the ship, the DDG memories brings back a flood of memories I was in theUS navy for 10 years from 73-83 station in norfolk 74-75. I was an sn. then os all the way up to 1st class, OS1 seeing the charles f adams class ddg ,I was on the Uss blandy the last of a breed of forrest sherman class DDs did one med cruise in 74-75 before A SCHOOL.Looking back you really miss it .
