My name is Erika Matos. I was born in May 10th, 1978 in Rio Piedras, PR. I'm a ZUMBA Instructor and would like to tell you how ZUMBA changed my life and why I love it so much. When I was 16 yrs old I weighed 115 lbs, which it was PERFECT. As I got in my 20's I started to gain weight, I was getting comfortable with my life, eating and working, no exercise. By the age of 25 I weighed 137 lbs, again I was getting comfortable with my lifestyle, but when I became 30-31 yrs old my weight was 156-158 lbs, size 9-11 in jeans, large in shirts/tops, etc. I realized at 5'2" that in considered overweight and I didn't feel good about the way I looked and of course my health wasn't the best either. I thought about joining a gym so many times but always made excuses which prevented me from going. Eventually I took a ZUMBA class for about 2 weeks and quitted, again making excuses with myself. 4 months later in May of 2009, I decided to join a gym and start the ZUMBA classes again. At this point I said to myself that I was going to do something about my weight and stick to it. I MADE a COMMITMENT with myself! On my first 2 weeks I got so addicted to ZUMBA, going 5 days a week and never missed a class. In my first month I dropped 14 lbs. But I also knew I had to change my eating habits. As a Puertorican, I used to eat a lot of fried food, rice, etc so that and my lifestyle caused me to gain weight like crazy. In 7 months I lost 41 lbs and my actual weight is 115 lbs, size 1 jeans/pants, small/xsmall in tops/shirts. Thanks to ZUMBA and to the COMMITMENT I made with myself. My wish is to transmit that to others, no matter how overweight you are, if it's for your health and for your self esteem, there are no excuses and it can be done. If I did it so can you. If ZUMBA changed my life, it can change yours too.

Love to dance any kind of music, salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaeton, you name it. I have a beautiful family , my husband, my brother and my sister in law, my mom and my niece Naisha Marie and 5 beautiful dogs.

I have to say ONE thing.... ZUMBA has changed my life completely, that's why I was inspired to become an Instructor. Love to teach people how to get fit and enjoy their lives at the same time. Let me show you and your members how ZUMBA changed my life.
