Zarathustra is a name long associated with lost wisdom. He was the ancient Iranian prophet and poet who inspired the Zoroastrian religion and philosophy. The name means "moving camels".

But it is not the ancient prophet that inspired me to choose the screen name but the charachter of Nietzsche's "Thus Spoke Zarathustra". Nietzsche's Zarathustra did not concern himself with the camel herd, but with the goat herd. Today we call them the sheep.

The ancient prophet centered his philosophy of life on the moral conflict between "truth and order" and "chaos, falshood and disorder". Nietzsche attempted to expose the concepts of truth and lie in an extramoral sense.

I look forward to sharing what I understand the to be the truth and lie with you.
About Me:

I was born and raised in rural west-central michigan. After graduating from high school, I served three terms in the United States Air Force as a medical laboratory technician and was honorably discharged at the rank of Technical Seargent (E-6). I earned my AS in Medical Laboratory Technology and a BS in Business Management while serving.

After discharge, I managed a small, rural Nebraska hospital's diagnostic services department performing general laboratory, limited radiologic and basic EKG proceedures for seven years.

In the year 2000, I made a career move to software sales and moved my family to the north Dallas, Texas area. The software bubble burst and I found myself scrambling for employment with to little work experience in software to stay in that industry.

I moved to southeast Michigan in early 2003 and worked in field service for just under a year before loosing my job again. I have been an assembler, a security guard and a route sales manager since then and I am currently unemployed.

My wife found part-time work in a deli five years ago and now gets full-time hours. Her employment has gotten us through on my inadaquate paychecks until now but can't support us much longer.

My wife and I have a family of six children all of which still live with us. Our eldest daughter recently graduated from EMU with a BS in Jounalism. She is currently on seasonal hire at Mackinaw Island. The next, our eldest son, has struggled with education and employment. The next, a daughter, has recently finished an AS in Graphical Arts and is taking some additional courses to round out her education.

The three youngest are home educated. Our sixteen year old daughter is in into Dagorhir and sewing. The forteen year old daughter enjoys biking and cooking. And, our nine year old son just enjoys playing.

Everyone enjoys computer technology and gaming, especially World of Warcraft.

We were once active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but are now confirmed atheists although I prefer to think of myself as a secular humanist. History, philosophy and religion all continue to be of great interest to me.

I have a philosophy of my own making, "If you have to tell a lie to tell the truth, it isn't the truth." I think that sums up the problem with belief in any of the religions.

My greatest concern for our future and the future of humankind centers on the problems of debt-based money, overpopulation, overconsumption, rapidly depleting reserves of coal, oil, metals and minerals and global climate change.

I have lived through the latter half of the Age of Oil and I expect to live long enough to see the turnoil of an overpopulated planet earth scrambling to secure the last of the fossil fuel. I expect to see cold and hunger before I die. And I can't help but wonder when our normally peaceful human family will begin to recognize the size, scope and inevitibility of the problem. Then comes the violence.

Cheerish the moment!
