About this user
I was born in 1982, and grew up in the town of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. As a youngster my father introduced me to a family friend who owned a tailoring business. When visiting his shop I found myself inspired by the rails of beautifully crafted suits. It was this encounter that encouraged my interest in the industry. Thereafter I worked for two years as an apprentice in a menswear tailors, where I learned enough of the trade to establish my own tailoring business in my local town.
I had heard about the London origin of great traditional tailoring, and of the history of Savile Row.
Also, I had become aware of a more hand-crafted style, a bespoke garment, which was new to me, and the idea of this was particularly appealing. Having run my own business for three years, I felt it was time to move to London to develop more of the exacting skills required to be a brilliant bespoke tailor.
In 2003 I came to London, and began further training at Maurice Sedwell, 19 Savile Row. Here I spent two years learning their way to tailor garments. I became more interested in the historical construction techniques, and so moved to work for Huntsman, one of the oldest, and most prestigious houses on Savile Row.
Once I'd established a reputation for high quality workmanship, I took on work for Henry Poole also. Having worked for both companies for some years now, I have been presented with certificates of commendation, which recognise the world-class level of my skills.
Having become aware of the demand for English bespoke tailoring in Russia, I began to research about the industry there. Since there is a considerable market for hand tailored goods, and it seems clients are prepared to invest in high quality hand made garments, I am now considering setting up my own business there.
