The problem I'm having is it seems like most of the time, I end up sharing a spawn area with them. The times I don't, they have marines so quick and kill my pylon / only canon.

I think a lot of people in the comments are missing the point. The point isn't to have a tiny curtain which actually prevents people from seeing inside.
