I'm getting ready for the ski season and Zigyt has a couple of great drills to help with ski conditioning. The Dot Drill is a plyometric drill that trains the body for explosive, up/down movement just like in moguls. The random version of the Dot Drill also gives my core and proprioceptor muscles a workout. The Lunges drill works my thighs and glutes.Zigyt puts agility training on your iPhone or iPod touch. It is the only iPhone exercise app with a human voice that calls out your next action -- just like a trainer or coach!
I'm a skiier in Calgary, Alberta (in the foothills of the beautiful Rocky Mountains). I've been using an iPhone app called Zigyt to help me get ready for the ski season. It's not as rigorous as this class but i'm finding it a pretty good prep. The specific Zigyt drills I've been using are the Dot Drills and Lunges. I think the Box Drills and Lateral Shuffles would also be good pre-ski conditioning. And yes, I made the app but so what? If it works, it works.
For off-ice training, you may be interested in an iPhone app called Zigyt. It includes over 20 agility drills and calls out actions in random sequence like a trainer would. For goalies, there is a lateral shuffle drill that could really help with quick lateral reaction. Also the box drill might really help with forward and back agility training. Check it out in the iTunes store or search for Zigyt on the web.Lateral movement evaluation on the shuffle, t-push and hop step.
