After watching the Deleted Scenes, I realize this movie was butchered, and that all the deleted scenes tied the movie together, and generally it falls apart without a lot of the essential info in those clips. I bet the editor was really frustrated during the making of this.

Honestly, he wouldn't have gotten caught if he hadn't just opened fire. If he had just snuck around the side like he did anyway, and then pulled the gun on the copter pilot when no one was looking, the worst he would have had to deal with would have been "hey, is that supposed to be taking off?"...

I feel as if Studio Ghibli had some hand in this, even if only in inspiration terms. I mean, a lot of it reminds me sooooo much of a Miyazaki work, especially Howl's Moving Castle.
