About this user

Joshua C. Young was born on October 15th, 1989 in Queens, New York and since early age music infused his daily life. At age 9 he took piano lessons with a Russian teacher who praised his natural ability.

At age 14 he was given the bass as a birthday gift from his father. At age 16, Joshua was accepted to Victor Wooten's Bass/Nature camp in nashville, TN. There he took master classes from bassists Chuck Rainey, Steve Bailey, Anthony Wellington, Victor Wooten, Adam Nitti, Stu hamm, and Richard Bona.

On October 2006, he attended "Bass Player Live Magazine Convention" in Manhattan, NY where he met the rest of his idols such as, Stanley Clarke, Jeff Berlin, Bakithi Kumalo, Billy Sheehan, Tal Wilkenfeld, and Marcus Miller. After meeting and spending time playing with some of the greatest bass players in the world Joshua decided to take his musical dream very seriously.

At age 17, Joshua was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA giving him the opportunity to fulfill his lifetime dream. He has created a strong network of friends and has built a very reputable status among the students and bass department faculty. During his time at Berklee he has sharpened his skills as a composer and arranger. He has auditioned for P. Diddy, Lady Gaga, and Kelly Rowland, providing him with an insight on the music industry.

At age 21,he performed and shared the stage with grammy-award winning bass icon Victor Wooten at a book banquet held by the Liberal Arts Department at the David Friend Recital Hall. Joshua has been chosen to be featured on the world renown Gospel Chops Bass Sessions Vol. 2 along with bass lions Justin Raines, Sharay Reed, Anthony Crawford, Mark Peric, Evan Marien, and Katsuji Morioka. He is going to stay two more years at berklee to major in Film Scoring and he plans to audition to Julliard for a Masters in Composition. He wholeheartedly loves composing to a higher degree of musical expression as oppose to just being a bass player. Soon the World will hear about this extraordinary "Bass Phenomenon...
