foxchool : The aria is not transposed at all but sung with the diapason used in Paris when Gluck was there. Modern interpreters of the aria (end of XIX and early XXth century) were ignorant of this "detail" and were often responsible for pushing the voices too much.

Such a bad idea to sing a piece not written for your voice ! Here a voice of tenor is completely unable to pay justice to the aria such as a (mezzo-) soprano voice. The tempo is ridiculously slow...

ariodante76. Thank you for your post. Maybe I was too harsh with Savall's CD. Furio Zanasi is a brilliant singer and make a good job. But I have been so disappointed by Savall's treatment of this demanding opera, especially by his choices for the orchestration and part of the cast...
