It was a good engine, if it wasnt a good engine they wouldnt have put it in the planes. Didnt the p-38s have the turbosuperchargers equipped?

@fyadcorp ya...its pretty mind blowing to watch it...theres a few videos on here of trucks doing that...theres one of a doge with a cummins that blew the turbo at a truck pull running away

@BlackLabsproductions it sure seems like those planes could take alot more abuse and damage and still return home than the new jets can...

@SpenzOT im pretty sure that whine is the turbo supercharger on the engine.... the placement on the engine is why you only hear it from certain angles

wouldnt a real diesel race include 10000 pounds behind each truck and a stop light launch?

@MicroOrginisum ford builds the 6.7, mercedes helped them design it. Just like the engines freightliner uses (not the cummins) they put in those trucks are built by detroit diesel, designed by mercedes

uh...wouldnt it be a little better of a challenge if both trucks were 1 tons or both trucks were 3/4 tons?

@rangaman86 mine is all stock minus a straight piped exhaust. My 7.3 has a ground pounding 215 hp. Not a fast truck but i have over 500 ft lbs of torque. I have nothing against cummins, they are great motors, if something were to happen to my 250, if i didnt buy another old body ford i would prob...

@hogdogger123 im pretty sure they will....theres a 379 with a flat top ive seen a few times around where i live with a 3412 pulling over-size loads

@HCC886 they may weight 1300 wet....but i still doubt that.....

@HUMMVE100 a dmax would kill a 24v....that being said, a 24v will take more abuse than a dmax.... and i dont know if a 24v makes more torque than a dmax, but what torque it has is all low end...which is the way a diesel should be

@MattFoster10 ford and gm offered turbo's on their ifi diesels starting in the mid 80s, but they were pretty rare. All cummins in dodge trucks came with turbos...but the early ones, as well as the turbo'd chevys and fords didnt make but 4 - 8 lbs of boost...nothing to be proud of...

However, for hauling or pullin excessively heavy loads (in a truck) a manual is the way to go...the death of an auto trans is heat....alot of weight makes alot of heat, and usually a manual is built heavier duty dut to gear - gear instead of a hydraulic coupling...

@olearyk17 diesels have less engine brake than a gas motor because there is no throttle blade to make a vacuum in the intake to slow the motor, thus why theres such thing as an exhaust brake or a jake brake on some diesels....the noise you hear on this truck is not a blow off valve or a wastegate...

@NateW395 dont worry, its just their youth and lack of knowledge, they dont know that this is american and in real engines we go by lift, duration, and lobe seperation. But they probally dont know what that means...

@199jl uh....im pretty sure international uses the 7.3s in their medium - heavy duty trucks...its called the T444E. And also, the 5.9 cummins is used the same as a 7.3. Ford and GM offered the 5.9 as an engine option in their heavier duty trucks....the duramax is also used in isuzu's medium duty ...

we were directly across from that when it blew the turbo and prolly the motor...i called it before it happened on the first pull he did when it backfired thru the exhaust twice...i knew she was comin apart....

@biggestMetallicAfan the ultimate comparison is see how they do with 15k punds behind them...some magazine raced them with i think 10k behind them and they all where about the same times...i think the duramax did the best and the ford 6.7 and the cummins 6.7 where really close behind it... I work...

@reducedfat11 ford owns stock in cummins, other than that, ford has nothing to do with cummins....its no different than any person owning stock in a company....i dont think ford would use cummins, ford makes their own motors now...
