I Do Not endorse Fidel Castro or his policies, and I do not wish for corporate exploitation of Cuba. My hope is that with the lifting of United States enacted sanctions against Cuba, Cubans will be able to determine their own destiny. The embargo has not been successful and does nothing but place further hardship on the impoverished people of this nation.

It's the right thing to do.

If you are against the proposition of open trade with Cuba, I would like to encourage you to ask yourself why, think about the why of the question. If your reasoning is because Fidel Castro is still in power of a communist dictatorship, think about this. Wouldn't it be more effective if we lifted sanctions, possibly allowing a free market to empower a fledgling democracy to develop in the spirit of true freedom. Try not to fall into the ideological trap of , we are against Cuba because we are against Cuba. If the Soviet Union, Eastern Germany and the rest of the Eastern Block could not resist the drive of freedom propelled by the free market, even if it was a black market to start, what makes you think that a highly educated, free spirited people will not be capable of overcoming the obstacles before them. And another thing, so what if Cuba remains a "communist nation" are we so fragile a democracy that we can't withstand the ideological threat of a small island nation, nearly one hundred miles from our shores?

Think about it, and ask yourself if your constructs still hold true.
