15 international speakers joined the debate in three different sessions about the ability to design nature, the ability to design human life and questions of ownership. Every session consisted of a keynote, followed by three short presentations and a moderated Q & A.

Werk Nu Experten aan het woord
Z33 stortte zich in de laatste 9 maanden intensief op het thema werk, maar er zijn uiteraard mensen voor wie nadenken over werk hun dagelijkse job is. Z33 nodigt dan ook de werkgevers- en werknemersorganisaties, werkgevers, werknemers én academici uit om deel te nemen aan dit project. Na een bezoek aan de tentoonstelling motiveren deze insiders welk werk hen het meest beroert. Smaken werkgevers en werknemers dezelfde werken? Benaderen academici kunst met een wetenschappelijke blik? Kijken werknemers- en werkgeversorganisaties vanuit een ander oogpunt naar hetzelfde werk?

The boundaries between art and experimental design are becoming ever more blurred. Z33
already focussed on this phenomenon in Designing Critical Design, which featured
designers who introduce a critical viewpoint on design and on their own practice.
Design by Performance is a showcase for performative trends in contemporary design.
The exhibition doesnt focus on finished products, but on the production process itself:
objects whose realisation is a continuous project, affected or formed by either the
environment, the specific situation they are placed in, or the audience / visitors.
Processes and performances constitute a crucial part of Design by Performance, lending
the exhibition an unpredictable and transformative character, and converting what is
otherwise a static exhibition space into a space open to action and change.
