On Saturday February 4th, 2012, UTChinese will be holding the 2012 New Year Concert at Isabel Bader Theatre, University of Toronto St. George Campus. The concert features special classical arrangement for some well-known Chinese pieces as well as masterpieces from several composers. To view the Concert Program, please click here.
Invited performers include Ricker Choi (the second prize winner at the 2010 Berlin International Amateur Piano Competition, the second prize winner at the 2009 Boston International Piano Competition, and the third prize winner at the Washington International Piano Artists Competition), Lang Ning Liu (Edward Steuermann Memorial Prize, the first prize winner at the 2003 Juilliard Concerto Competition, the first prize winner at the 2001 Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra Piano Concerto Competition, and the Grand Prize winner at the 1999 American Piano Contest, among other prestigious awards), and musicians from the Hart House Orchestra and the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto. Being the leading organization in the Chinese community and the University, UTChinese concerns not only about the vibrant university life, but also the ever-changing global situation. UTChinese will donate net proceeds of the concert to UNICEF Canada, in support of education for children around the globe.
