Filmmaking starts from zero. A story begins, which becomes a script. The story needs a direction. Then, it looks for a vision. The piece is composed with many elements, like sound and digital arts. These are all different aspects of a film; meanwhile, they are all about story.
A person has a story. A thing has a story. A film has a story. A vision has a story, and a story has its vision. I am a story teller before a cinematographer, but how I pass on it is in a way through visuals.
I was born in Japan and have always been deeply fascinated by films, especially Hollywood's. Then, I came to California to study film production in 2005. In my childhood, I always had a passion for drawing, receiving inspiration from my grandfather. My knowledge of still photography was obtained from working at Konica Minolta as one of the developing crew for the new digital SLR. These two elements developed my eyes in the realm of cinematography.
I gained technical experience by working on over 30, and now I am ready for telling stories through my vision. My teachers are also the people who I work with. As we communicate and collaborate, making movies together, their ideas and visions inspire me, and I am ready to use everything I have gained to tell magnificent stories.
