"VIRTUAL KNOWLEDGE, REAL RESULTS."

SPACENAVIGATOR: Getting started The SpaceNavigator is like a "3D mouse", an alternative input device like a mouse or keyboard. Linden Labs offers formal support in Second Life, which should make it easier to use the SpaceNavigator. The SpaceNavigator can help you more easily navigate in 3-D applications. Inside the box are the hardware, the SpaceNavigator, and the driver CD. There is a new Preferences tab that helps you control the joystick device. The joystick has a standard USB connection. You plug the cable into your computer's standard USB port, and then start Second Life. To get the full benefit, you need to be running the SpaceNavigator-supported viewer. Once Second Life is active, click inside the window with your mouse, and turn the joystick. Subtle movements of the joystick will control the avatar, similar to using a mini-steering wheel. By default, the right button opens the SN control panel. You can configure the buttons on the joystick. You can tilt the joystick to see dramatic angles. Esc key (on keyboard) resets your view. Your keyboard can control avatar movement while SpaceNavigator changes camera angles; you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to walk with your left hand, and use your SpaceNavigator to create more dynamic motion to the scene to look around with your right hand. As this is an early version, this technology will evolve and change. If you go to Edit menu -- Preferences -- Input & Camera tab's "Joystick Setup" button, then click "SpaceNavigator Defaults" it will revert to typical settings. If you push down on the cap of the joystick your avatar will crouch.
