I think this is a quietly revolutionary episode: unlike every other sitcom I've seen, the "problem" isn't fixed at the end of the thirty minute time-block. It's a long-standing issue that can't be helped in one heart-to-heart with mom, but will take months, maybe years to get better. So realistic.
