This is a Yin Yoga practice that will dive deep into the hip sockets: it will be juicy! We begin easy with an opening Meditation, and a simple Butterfly. A short visit to the Straddle will start to abduct the hips followed by Shoelace to externally rotate the hips. Then we visit the land of the Dragons: Dragon Cycle #2 will take us to the Winged Dragon. If you ever wanted to work towards Lotus pose or bringing your feet behind your head, this is the flow for you (but don't worry: we aren't going there today!) That will be a deep external rotation, so then we come into Saddle to internally rotate the hips. We release all tension through the Bananas (touching the IT band) and Reclining Twists and we will end with a Shavasana and Meditation. Be careful of flexion of the spine in the Butterfly if you have lower back issues such as slipped disk or herniated disks. This is a deep Yin Yoga practice that will focus on the legs, taking us to the Dragon Splits. This one is really yummy and when you are done, you'll want your mommy. We start with a short meditation, followed by the Butterfly to abduct the legs and then we will work the adductors and hamstrings more deeply through the Straddle. Coming into the Shoelace will work the sides of the legs. We will release the spine through Sphinx and Seal, which will prepare us for lying back in Saddle to loosen up the top of the legs, so that when we are done, we will have worked all four quadrants of the legs. Now we are ready for Dragon Cycle #3: the splits! We release all tension through the Reclining Twists and we will end with a Shavasana and Meditation. Be careful of flexion of the spine in the Butterfly and Straddle if you have lower back issues such as slipped disk or herniated disks.
