What we need to do is somehow get all the Jewish schools involved and allow them to see and understand that we can't allow 1000 years of ashkenazic culture to be gone just because of the Holocaust which happened 65 years ago from today.. I am 38 years old.. a native(semi) yiddish speaker. I read in it, I speak in it, and I write in it, though my handwriting is a little to be desired.. DOES NOT MATTER, what does matter is how can we achieve Yiddish to be a language worth of time and effort and of study? I think if we all can try... and I mean everyone... even non-jews who want to learn it - are welcome.. we can bring this about and once again will Yiddish be a spoken vernacular in the streets, along with english and hebrew...

I'm trying to figure out if there is any remnant the Askenazi Jews kept with their music traditions from the time they lived in Khazaria (central Russia)? What I find odd is how the Ashkenazis don't have any of their own unique folk instruments surviving in their folk music unless you can prove me wrong? There are theories that the Jew's Harp might in fact be an indigenous instrument played by the khazarian Jews since zillions of Turkic tribes use the instrument in their folk musics. What do you think?
Sure the shofar exists from Israel but we never use it in folk music. The TRUE native Hebrew inhabitants of Israel have folk instruments like their neighbors but oddly it seems they've never bothered making recordings of such music using indigenous instruments. The Israeli folk music of today sadly seems to be this European Yiddish style music which in reality is not of Middle-Eastern musical extraction and is what I consider to be a fraud!
