I am a Beatles fan. I like anything Beatles even after they went solo. I am promoting the Beatles' former manager, Brian Epstein, to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Brian worked very hard to get recording contracts for the Beatles after he discovered them in November 1961. Every record studio turned down The Beatles. Even The Beatles' former manager Allan Williams refused to have anything to do with them and advised Brian not to touch them with a barge pole. Brian did not give up and finally was able to connect with Decca records producer Tony Meehan and EMI's George Martin for an audition. From Brian's meeting with George Martin, the Beatles' audition secured them a contract. Brian worked extremely hard in promoting the Beatles to introduce them to the world. Sadly, Brian Epstein passed away on Sunday, August 27, 1967 at the young age of 32. On Saturday, September 2, 1967, Paul McCartney affirms that No one could possibly replace Brian, and that they will go on alone, without manager. After Brian's sudden passing, the Beatles never had another manager. According to John Lennon, Brian was the expert and they all trusted him; after Brian died, the Beatles fell apart. On Friday, September 8, 1967, an official report states that Brian's death was accidental, due to accumulation of bromide contained in a drug known as Carbitral (sedative/sleeping pills). Later Sir Paul McCartney would say at a 1997 BBC interview - If anyone was the Fifth Beatle, it was Brian. Brian Epstein was the one responsible for guiding The Beatles to their success. Without Brian Epstein, we would have never known the Beatles. Please have Brian Epstein inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Record Producer Sir George Martin (1999), The Beatles (1988), the solo efforts of John Lennon (1994), Sir Paul McCartney (1999), and George Harrison (2004) have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Ringo Starr may be inducted in the near future. The campaign to get Brian Epstein inducted is by THE FEST for The Beatles Fans (formerly Beatlefest), the organizers of the official Beatles fan conventions. Martin Lewis, former assistant to Alistair Taylor (and was a close friend to Brian), created the Brian Epstein website. They would like to get 100,000 signatures to petition Brian to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Sir George Martin, Alistair Taylor, Henry Brian Epstein, and Martin Lewis have signed the petition. I also included the website address URL for anyone to sign the petition. Please sign it and also please have your friends and relatives sign it. It is free to sign and takes only a moment of your time for your signature. For all that this great legend has done to bring joy into our lives, we owe him so much. According to Ray Coleman, "without Brian Epstein we wouldn't have seen the Beatles. That's my strong view." The Chicago FEST will be at The Hyatt Regency Hyatt O'Hare Hotel (Airport) in Chicago, Illinois from August 5-7, 2011. This is the largest Beatles convention selling Beatles items.
