First her love (that was going to marry Mary) died on the Titanic. Sad. She attempts to lure in Matthew. Fails because Mary is so pretty and Matthew likes her instead. Really hates Mary. Figures out a dirty secret about Mary. Promptly tells people. Mary is furious. Edith finally finds someone to like her. Extrodinarily happy. Mary is so ticked at Edith for telling people that she breaks up Edith and the dude who liked her. All are sad.
