Well ever since I was little, I have always been shy. I remember crying when I arrived at a birthday party because I wanted to leave so badly and that was when I was only about 8. As I got older it got worse, I joined Athletics around 9/10 and just sat there crying because I refused to join in. Also I have another memory of waiting with my mum and sister for my first gymnastics lesson and crying. My older sister just rolled her eyes and my mum would always think I was being stupid and babyish but I wasn't, I just couldn't control the way I felt. There are probably so many times like that that I've lost count.
However, my point is that if I was that scared back then, then I must be terrified now. I am.
Around the time that I turned 11, my sister was admitted to hospital mainly for depression. My parents became so involved in her that I started to feel more and more secluded. I've always had an image in my mind of me standing in line outside my class thinking to myself of how badly I wanted someone to talk to about my sister, just for someone to ask me about her so that I could tell them. But I felt it wasn't my story to tell so I kept it a secret from everyone and instead bottled my feelings up. Although I was shy, I still had many friends and lots of fun times.
By the time I turned 12, I dreaded going to school, I didn't know why.
But when I was at School it was never as bad as I'd thought it was going to be because at age 12 my older sister was back home so I still felt reasonably happy.
Then I started high school and everything changed. There have been no more fun times, I've lost nearly all my friends and my sister was back in hospital becoming more and more ill. My point is that if I felt that shy and scared at eight years old, then I must be terrified now that I am sixteen. I am.
I'm going to be making videos about the rest of mine and my sister's lives up until this point in time so keep checking back because I am hoping they will give other sufferers out there some support.
