all of their odd meter riffs and "break downs" are stolen and/or dumbed down Meshuggah riffs. Listen to Corridor of Chameleons by Meshuggah - pay attention about 2:45 seconds in. And Meshuggah does have traditional break downs, in the song "Humiliative" for instance. Just because it isn't in 4/4 ...
