He is obviously not used "lightyears" as a unit of time in this instance, he is saying that we are nowhere close, we are 5.87 billion miles away. this has nothing to do with him saying that we are years away, he is saying we are not close

@TheAgingPhilosopher I just want to know if you have read the Bible at all. putting aside for now the issue of whether or not God is real, if you read the Bible, you will know that it does not describe a "petty, childlike God".
