The "rare" encounter monster is actually not-so-rare, but can only be encountered within a certain room in the last floors of the dungeon. @OnionKnight4124 He'll be playing the PSP version, which is vastly different from its DS counterpart. If you're having trouble with the final boss, make sure your characters have AT LEAST reached level 65 (Most of mine were in their 70's with Cecil in his 80's, and that's just the strict minimum....

One word of advice. You'll want to do Ceodore's Challenge Dungeon BEFORE tackling Kain's Tale, due to the two tying in.

Not a big fan of the dub, but I love the way Cook works Buu's Kamehameha. Makes it sound evil.

I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me, but this was my favorite trial out of all the characters'; It just added more emphasis to Kain's inner jealousy towards Cecil, and had more of a serious tone. It also gave way to Kain's Tale in the After Years.

You actually can fight Lavos with only Crono, by accessing the Right Telepod during the span of time Lucca lets you test it (Marle is dismissed of the party at that moment), I've done it myself.
